just added another external HD, an Acomdata 250GB, Firewire, pre-formatted as FAT32. I'm running Win XP HE SP2, but didn't convert to NTFS to maintain back compatibility with older systems. I checked the external for errors, including bad sectors, from Properties > Tools > Error Checking before using it.

I chose toolkit over the mac hd setup on the advice of many mac people. I was told that fwb's driver was better than Apple's, that compatability wasn't an issue.
